THRESHOLD WELLNESS
YOGA RETREATS

ONE OF THE WELLNESS OFFERINGS OF THRESHOLD RETREATS

All-inclusive wellbeing retreats centered around yoga, presence, and meaningful connection.

THRESHOLD is excited to welcome Merete Matthiesen as one of our 2026 retreat practitioners. Merete is Danish, and has taught yoga for over 18 years. She is also certified in Danish style of body therapy called Manuvision. She will be offering the bodywork sessions as an add-on to the retreats. Manuvision is more than a treatment — it is a way of reconnecting the body and mind so they can work together again, instead of against one another. A MESSAGE FROM MERETE I work with strength and muscular energy before flexibility, because strength helps protect the joints before stretching. Mobility is equally important, so we explore plenty of twisting and the movement between poses—not just the poses themselves. And, of course, a lot of balance. That said, I always adapt my classes and intentions to the people who arrive on the mat. I teach vinyasa yoga, where we flow from one posture to another while playing with tempo, rhythm, the senses, and the mind itself. Breath is essential. During the September retreat, there will be three evening sessions dedicated to breathwork and meditation. These 45-minute practices will explore different approaches to pranayama, meditation, voice, and awareness. Sessions may take place before dinner or later in the evening and are best experienced on a relatively empty stomach. I also offer sound-based classes that weave together breathwork, voice, and guided awareness. Whenever possible, I incorporate music. The combination of guidance, movement, and music can soften self-consciousness and create a more inward experience—both individually and within the group. For an hour or more, you may forget your usual patterns of thought and simply become body and breath. Why I Teach Yoga Because your body will love it. What happens on the mat—the struggles, epiphanies, resistance, and small successes—often mirrors what happens in life. The lessons learned through practice can be carried well beyond the yoga room. Yoga is for all levels. Through the practice, you develop greater body awareness, while strength, mobility, and balance create more freedom in the body and, ultimately, more freedom in life. And who doesn’t want more freedom?

The Château has always been a place of creative exchange, but creativity begins with presence. Before we can make, we must learn to listen.

These retreats use yoga, movement, breath, and time in nature as pathways back to ourselves. Set against the backdrop of the Mediterranean and the Chateau, each day offers space to slow down, reconnect with what matters, and experience the region not as a visitor, but from within.

The result is less about perfecting a practice and more about cultivating a different way of being—one that feels grounded, spacious, and alive.

Spaces are intentionally limited to preserve the intimacy of the experience.

THRESHOLD is excited to welcome Merete Matthiesen as one of our 2026 retreat practitioners.

Merete is from Denmark, and has taught yoga for over 18 years.

Manuvision is more than a treatment — it is a way of reconnecting the body and mind so they can work together again, instead of against one another.

Each session combines body therapy, deep pressure massage, breathwork, gentle joint release, and conversation. Attention is given to the small details: breath, tension, pauses, reactions, and the body’s natural responses. The work supports the nervous system, helping the body release stored tension, regulate stress, and reconnect with emotions and experiences that may have been held physically over time.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION FROM MERETE AND ABOUT MANOVISION

MORE FROM MERETE

CREATIVITY AND MOVEMENT
My professional expertise is deeply connected to my personal passion for art, creativity, and the human condition. I am interested in how insight, relationships, and morality move us through life. Personally, I find my own flow through the expressive freedom of "GaGa" dance, the discipline of tango, and a daily ritual of running and breathwork.

Whether we meet on the mat or in a therapeutic session, my goal is to create a space for insight, movement, and the courage to change.
I also work as an artist, so everything can happen — and you will inspire me as much as I hope to inspire you.

ABOUT MANOVISION THE BODY REMEMBERS Our bodies hold the past—the many impressions and experiences of daily life. They reflect our mental well-being, because the body and mind are not separate, but part of a connected whole. This connection runs through the nervous system, which is why Manuvision Body Therapy works directly with the nervous system. At Manuvision, we often make this connection tangible by looking at the body, thoughts, and emotions. These three elements constantly influence one another. Thoughts can make plans without listening to the body or emotions, which can impact both mental and physical health. The state of the psyche—our mental and emotional patterns—is therefore inseparably linked to the state of the body. In our treatments, we work to regulate the body, mind, and emotions, understanding how they interact in a continuous feedback loop, restoring balance and well-being. WHAT CAN BODY THERAY HELP WITH? Manuvision Body Therapy can help relieve a wide range of physical and mental conditions, from work-related injuries and physiological imbalances to psychological challenges caused by stress, shock, or trauma. This is an optional add-on service during the retreat. If you have additional questions, Merete will be happy to answer them for you!

THE INTERSECTION OF MOVEMENT, DIALOGUE AND INSIGHT In yoga, I work with strength before flexibility. Because we need strength in life — and because we need strength to support mobility. Through vinyasa flow, I connect standing poses with seated and floor-based postures. I guide you all the way. We do it because we can — and because it is fun. Strong poses and inversions are included, always as invitations. I take care of each individual body and its unique state. We do not all have the same body, but we still move together as a group, connected through breath, joy, themes, philosophy, and the senses. As a professional yoga teacher and body therapist, the red thread throughout my life and work has always been the body and the conversation. I work with individuals one-on-one, both privately and within corporate environments, helping people navigate the relationship between their inner landscape and the world around them. My practice is an integration of movement and therapeutic inquiry. Beyond teaching asanas, pranayama, and meditation, I offer what I think of as a physical awakening. Through hands-on body therapy, I work closely with the voice, the breath, and physical sensations. I help you observe how the body holds patterns — through posture, tension, movement, and attitude. By acting as a mirror for your process, I offer an extra layer of awareness, allowing you to see what the body reveals. My work is rooted in the belief that we always have the sometimes daunting opportunity to choose another path, shift perspective, and change how we meet ourselves and others.
