The Threshold Journal

Some people come to the South of France for the light. Others come for the food, or the sea, or the particular way an afternoon in Provence seems to stretch itself out, unhurried, into something that feels almost like permission.

Most of us, though? We come because something in our everyday life stopped feeling like enough — and we couldn't quite name it.

This is the space where we write about all of that.

The Threshold Journal is where we explore the intersection of creativity, travel, and the quiet courage it takes to call yourself an artist. You'll find practical guides here — what to expect from a creative retreat in the South of France, how to start with oil painting as a beginner, what the French Riviera's art history actually feels like when you're standing inside it. But you'll also find the less-tidy stuff: what it means to push through creative burnout, why being a total beginner might be your greatest advantage, and how a week spent making art in a 15th-century château can reorganize something inside you that you didn't know needed reorganizing.

We write for the person who has been saying "someday" for a long time. For the professional who used to make things and somewhere along the way stopped. For the curious traveler who wants to bring home more than photographs.

Whether you're researching your first art retreat in France or you're three tabs deep into airfare and still not sure you're "ready" — you're in the right place.

Scroll down. Stay a while. And when something pulls at you, follow it.
