A Living Atelier of ongoing dedication
For the first time since its founding 74 years ago, the La Napoule Art Foundation is opening its doors to reach beyond professional artists and to host in-house retreats for anyone who seeks exploration—our mission is to make arts and transformation accessible to all.

Our five-day retreats take place in the south of France, on the Mediterranean Sea, in the town of Mandelieu-la-Napoule, located just a few miles from Cannes and 40 minutes from Nice. Our program is located within the La Napoule Art Foundation property, which comprises the Château de La Napoule and the adjacent 10-bedroom Villa Marguerite, which houses artists-in-residence and retreat participants. It is a site steeped in the artistic legacy of artist Henry Clews and the visionary work of the foundation’s founder, Marie Clews.
The Château was purchased in the 1920’s by the Clews family and transformed over many years as an artistic experiment and passionate undertaking by a couple who were romantically idealistic. It was for them, and is now, a place of reinvention, renewal, magic, and transformation. A place where boundaries are broken and lives are rewritten against the backdrop of the brilliant azure of the Mediterranean Sea.
Since 1951, the La Napoule Art Foundation (LNAF) has promoted exceptional talent—both recognized and emerging—on the international stage through collaboration with major arts organizations and leaders worldwide. LNAF seeks to engage creative minds in cultural exchange and meaningful work that contributes to the greater good. We host dozens of artists each year through invited residencies, furthering our mission.
Now we invite you to share in the experience.
The proceeds from your participation in the art retreats help to fund our mission of nurturing artists across the globe in month-long, fully funded residencies and exhibitions throughout the year. Please inquire about a tax-deductible receipt for a portion of your retreat cost.
