Threshold: The Art of Becoming
August 3-9, 2025
Canvas: 16x20 cotton canvas panels or stretched canvas, need at least 6 to use throughout the week. Alternatively, if you have concern about getting your work back home, you can also purchase loose canvas. If you choose this option, we can have a backer ready for you to tape the canvas.
Brushes: 2 each of the following: hog hair bristle filberts in sized 6,4, and 3, and rounds size 2. The instructor recommends Silver Grand Prix, but any bristle brush brand works.
Oil Paint pigments: Participants are encouraged to bring as many additional colors as they like, with this list acting as a sort of base minimum.

Palette: Feel free to bring your own palette, or we will have a few pads of palette paper available for you to use.

Rags paper towels
Solvent: odorless mineral spirits in a sealed jar with a lid.
Oil: small bottle of Gamblin stand oil

Toning Procedure
We will be working on a toned ground throughout the workshop. This will require a neutral gray acrylic paint. The instructor will demonstrate how to apply the tone during the workshop with a chip brush, water, and a mixing container.
